Midway Trading Post - Rt 66 - New Mexico

The Midway Trading Post on Route 66 in New Mexico is a cool old building. Built in the mid-1940s, it served travelers along Route 66 as a curio shop, gas station, cafe, rest stop and also served the local community as a post office and municipal court during its lifetime of use. I’m not sure when it closed, but after it did, it slowly began to deteriorate and fell victim to graffiti vandals. I took this picture in 2014, the year previous, local volunteers spent many hours sprucing the place back up.
